TEAM NEWS: BimmerWorld Heads To Toronto Ready For a Street Fight

7/05/07 Dublin, VA Dublin, Virginia’s BimmerWorld Racing heads north to Toronto, Canada for the 6th round of the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car championship this weekend—it’s the team’s first time racing on the stories and popular temporary ChampCar circuit.

“We’re excited to race for the first time in Toronto. The crowds and fans from what I’m told are just amazing—it’s like a massive 3-day long party there, said James Clay, owner and drive of the #36 BimmerWorld BMW E90. “We have a lot of fans and customers in Canada, especially in eastern Canada, so I know we’ll have a lot of local support in the grandstands.

Clay’s team mate Seth Thomas is also excited to get to Toronto in order to put a challenging first half of the season behind him. “We’ve been really fast at every track, and had a few solid results towards the front of the pack, but bad luck, on track contact, and a few other gremlins have really tried our patience. I know our BMW’s can fight for pole positions and wins—we just need a few smiles to rain down on us and we’ll start delivering those results.”

The 1.75 mile long temporary circuit erected in downtown Toronto is likely to favor the inline 6-cylinder power and multi-link suspension found within the blue BimmerWorld E90’s. With a number of slow to medium speed corners, the torque available from the BMW power plant will be of great use to help Clay and Thomas shoot from corner to corner. The traction and cornering power of the BimmerWorld-tuned suspension will also be at a premium on the notoriously slippery street circuit.

“I really hope to have a boring and uncomplicated weekend for Seth and me,” Clay noted with a smile. “We’ve had too much drama and have been hit too many times in the recent races. Our E90’s should be nicely suited to Toronto’s street circuit, so if all goes according to plan, we’ll start and finish the weekend going quickly and then put the cars back into the trailer without a collection of dents and traded paint from our competitors. This should be a great shootout for BimmerWorld and the rest of the series.”
